Capturing the Moment: Brent Asay

August 3rd, 2008

• UPDATE •

August 15, 2008 — Brent has created a new website for showcasing his photos: Brent Asay’s Photo a Day. The old link is found in this post, however, you’ll notice that I’ve updated the “Favorite Links” menu with the new information. Thanks Brent!

August 03, 2008 —I had so much fun with Brent’s slide show, I decided we needed a curtain call. Brent Asay has been the official photographer for the Salt Lake baseball franchise starting with their Los Angeles Angels affiliation in 2001 (the end of the Buzz era). If you see one of our Bees players featured on MiLB.com, chances are you are admiring one of his pix. And of course, there are a slew of killer shots at the Salt Lake Bees homepage. You can check out Brent’s entire sports portfolio at his homepage: Neverland Photos.

I LOVE Brent’s baseball work. Baseball is a tough sport to shoot because unlike hockey, soccer or basketball, it’s not easy to predict where the most exciting play is going to happen. What looks like a solid single to right field might suddenly be the start of a 4-6-3 double play. Brent has the right feel for the right shot, at just the right moment.

Take a look at the example to the left—slide #8 from the photo gallery at MiLB.com.

The following are a few of my faves from the MiLB.com galleries. Bye for now!
